February Blog

The rain has been falling and most of us have spent more time indoors than we would perhaps like. It is still possible to be aware. Some of us might feel able to go out in the rain and enjoy the sensation of raindrops on our skin and the wind blowing around us. Or for the less intrepid, noticing the sound of rain and wind on the roof and the cosiness of building a fire and being indoors , knowing the law of impermanence and that winter turns to spring and everything changes.

I always meditate first thing in the morning. This is  my  way … others may do things differently and that is ok. The early mornings can change so much. In winter it can still be dark and quiet and the cat hasn’t even stirred. In spring and summer the birds are singing and their song is uplifting.

In all things I find that mindfulness brings me back to a richness of the moment that I might otherwise miss and often do. So a reminder to keep my practice going and notice how the outside world affects me. I don’t always like it, but if I sit with it and notice, I can usually find it is ok after all.
